The long tradition of cricket on the Castle Green in Bamburgh
was interrupted for several years prior to 2004 when several friendly matches were successfully staged in the latter half of the season.
Work was carried out on the square during the autumn of
2004 and then spring of 2005 before we staged a series of friendlies
throughout the summers of 2005 and 2006. A brand new wicket was
constructed at the end of the 2008 season.
For 2009 we have 21 fixtures lined up starting on
11th April 2009. Including a match with a team from Australia! Will
this become the Bamburgh ashes? The team are called The Old Ports and
are from Mudgee N.S.W. See latest press
release for the match.
